KIBBLESWORTH ACADEMY GREEN FLAG LITTER PICKING supported by Lamesley Parish Council.

The children of Kibblesworth academy were very keen to take part in litter picking to help the school gain their Green flag award. The Green Flag award will benefit the school and the local village by

raising environmental awareness, encourage the provision of green spaces and bringing together a community spirit while helping keep the local area green. This award also allows the school community to say that we have supported global change to our environment.

The academy approached Lamesley Parish council for a grant to support them in their green flag award journey and was awarded the full amount of £350.

The grant will fund £200 for the Green Flag fees and £150 for the resources needed to support the children, for example compost and recycling bins.

The Mount Community Centre

The Mount is owned by the Parish but maintained by volunteers, they pay a peppercorn annual rent.

The Mount is a former Methodist chapel in Eighton Banks sat alongside the Bowes Railway Line in Gateshead. It became a community centre about 40 years ago and has been at the heart of the community ever since.

It is run by The Mount Community Association who are a group of volunteers from the area. The Association look after the building and fund raise to support the running of the centre. Its aim is to provide a place for the community to gather and be the heart of the local community.

The hall is available for private hire, regular events, and the Association also puts on special events throughout the year.

There is lots going on this year at the Mount!  We have new and regular classes happening weekly, catering for a wide range of interests.  These include Zumba Gold, Sugarcrafting, Puppy School, Baby Sensory, Yoga and much more…  Please check our Facebook events page for further details on each event or our notice board at the hall.

We’re also undertaking a substantial refurbishment this year to improve the indoor space, facilities, and access to our outdoor areas.

We’re keen to have more people involved, both as active committee members, and as general volunteers for events.  Please get in touch if you would like to help!
